Hello, and welcome to a new feature on the SquareXO website! As many of you will know from listening to the podcast (and if you don’t listen, you can fix that here) I love to sink hours and hours of my time into each game to achieve the holy grail of a Platinum Trophy. Today – I ‘pinged’ my one hundred and twenty second.

From now on, I will do a quick round up on the site about each one, how hard it was, whether I would recommend it and how many sleepless nights I had trying to get the last damn bronze trophy.

First up for this new treatment is Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel, a 2D one on one fighter from the amazing Marvelous Games. It’s a fairly good looking game, with nicely drawn characters and settings along with a soundtrack that doesn’t get on your nerves. It feels responsive with flowing combo’s into the hundreds, without you having to plough a lot of time into practising.

I have no previous experience with Nitroplus, so the characters aren’t all recognisable (there are a couple of added faces including Homura from Senran Kagura and Saber from Fate/Stay Night), however they all play quite differently, which you’ll find out as one of the trophies requires you to finish Story Mode (Arcade Mode) with each one. This is simple – go to options, set to a low difficulty, one round to win and 30 seconds per round. It is also a good idea to acquaint yourself with the simple combo system. Pressing Square, Triangle, Circle, Cross in order always results in a basic 4 hit combo. Very useful for 14 runs of story mode.

Next up, you need to finish Another Story mode, basically, a more long-winded version of Story Mode which fleshes out the back stories of the characters, adds LOTS and LOTS of text to read and introduces a character that wears very little, but sadly isn’t playable.

BOOM, that’s the easy trophies complete.

Now, when I am going for platinum trophies I like to try and get the biggest hurdles out of the way as early as possible. Three of those hurdles here looked to be combo related – deal 12,000+ of damage in one combo, complete a combo using 5 bars of your power gauge and complete a combo with 10 different move types. All sounded like they would cause an issue, but, a quick visit to Youtube and 10 minutes of trying to perfect them in training mode yielded surprising quick results. One real blessing is that all combo and finisher trophies can be earned in two player mode. So, fire up a second DulaShock4, leave it next to you and deal a bashing to your poor invisible friend.

Finally, there’s a trophy to use each of the allies (characters you can summon into the fight who do a special move, be it fire a MASSIVE laser at your opponent or fill your power gauge and then leave again) If you’re clever, unlike me, you can assign different allies as you do your Story Mode runs, if not just do s few more ‘two-player’ fights.

And that’s it! An easy platinum trophy for 6 hours of fun.
